In a spur-of-the-moment decision, she altered the spelling from "Tameko" to "Tameka," a choice she would later look back on with a touch of regret. But in her heart, Margaret knew her daughter was the very star she had always dreamed about.

Growing up throughout Europe, Tameko’s love for music revealed itself early. Inspired by icons including Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson, she immersed herself in singing, dance, theatre and performance. Even as a child, she performed constantly—whether for family, friends, or even an audience of stuffed animals. By high school, her exceptional talent had earned her positions in elite choir and dance leadership, laying the foundation for the performer she would become.
Her journey into professional music accelerated in Italy, where she taught performing arts by day and captivated audiences by night as lead vocalist for a popular band. A live radio broadcast of her voice caught the attention of Italian producers Ricardo Stecca, Andrea Acchioni and Massimo Artusi, leading to a string of successful dance recordings including "Feel the Rhythm," "Now I Feel," "Love Makes Me High," and "Going in Circles."
Soon after, a life-changing opportunity arrived through Angelo Bernado of Undiscovered Records. Following the success of Livin’ Joy’s breakthrough hit "Dreamer," producers Gianni and Paolo Visnadi sought a new creative direction and fresh voice for the project. Tameko joined forces with the Visnadi brothers and MCA Records (now Universal Music Group), helping propel Livin’ Joy into international success. Together they created "Don't Stop Movin'," a global hit that reached Top 10 charts worldwide, achieved Gold status and became one of the defining dance records of the decade.
The momentum continued with Livin’ Joy's debut album, delivering fan favorites including "Follow the Rules" and "Where Can I Find Love," while taking Tameko across stages worldwide and establishing her as a lasting presence in dance music history.
